Found a local SAR-8 built on the shitty aluminum receiver with the integral scope mount - the one everyone says stay far far away from. One question though - is Springfield still warrantying these? I've read here where SAR-8 owners have been offered replacement M1As since Springfield knows the aluminum SAR-8s are such crap. Is it worth snagging for under a grand to trade in for an M1A? Or is that not a guarantee?
Can any SAR-8 owners shed light on this? Good or bad move? |

I had heard the same thing but haven't had first hand experience.
1. Call Springfield and get it straight from the horses mouth. 2. Tell them you are not the original owner 3. If it's a good price, get it and watch bolt gap like a hawk. Otherwise get a PTR for probably less money. PTR makes good stuff. Or if you are patient you can find a stamped SAR-8 for a good price too. |

I'd rather just grab a Colt 6920 for that price, or an AK. Hell, anything before the election. I might give Springfield a call anyway and see what they say. |

I highly doubt they will warranty/exchange on it. I would stay away unless you can get it for 350ish. Then scrap the receiver and have a good parts kit Springfield offers a lifetime warranty so there is a good chance the exchange process is still in effect. |
