So I just bought a Socom 16 the other week, and I've been shooting with it twice. The first time I took it out I had no problems at all. However, when I took it out to the range today, I had 2 failures to extract in 50 rounds (Federal XM80 from a loose packed 500rd case). I don't know all that much about the M1A, so I thought I'd ask you guys for some help. What's going on here? Is it just a weak extractor spring, or have I done something stupid with it? Thanks guys

buy an FAL?

j/k, I'd look at the extractor, but your rifle might just need to break in.

try cleaning it. my gas cylinder piston was not moving smoothly from the factory. some elbow grease cleaning the gas system and rifle cycling is smooth.
