I sent  my M1A in to Springfield for repair the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. I checked the tracking number and they got it about a week later. I followed their instuctions, RA# ect. What has been your experience time wise?

This time of year that is piss poor turn around time for them. What was the problem? If it didn't involve custom work I'd be giving a call to them finding out whats the hold up.

The bolt roller shattered. I e-mailed them late last week, no response yet.

Not sure if this counts, but I had them do a custom .308 rebarreling of my M1 Garand and it took 2 months. Sent it in in Aug and got it back Oct. YMMV.

When you get the rifle back, check to see that the bolt roller does not contact the receiver operating rod rail with the bolt fully in battery.  Obviously, you'll need to remove the operating rod, spring and guide to check this.  It's not unusual for commercial receivers to have insufficient clearance for the bolt roller.  I've had at least four M14 gunsmiths/armorers tell me this.  If it is making contact, you could call Springfield Armory, Inc. to see if they will relieve the bolt roller cutout.  If not, I would have a reputable M14 gunsmith take care of it.  The bolt roller should have 0.010 " clearance under it with the bolt fully closed.

I just sent mine in for the same operation. Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?

The re-barreling of my M1A took about 5 weeks, IIRC.

Yep took it to the range before the Holidays and it shot perfect! Don't have a pic of the target but once I sighted it in at 100yds I was able to put 8 into the black. I had them do a National Match trigger job as well. Very nice.

So I contacted SA today about my rifle. The story is that the rifle is done but, I included instructions to have the rifle shipped to my business address instead of being returned to my home address. I did this because the package has to be signed for by an adult, shipped FEDEX. So they wanted me to email them that I wanted the rifle shipped to my business address instead of being returned to my home address. You figure it out. Kind of sullen on the phone. Replaced the bolt. I'll let you know.

I ran into the exact same problem with them. A quick email explaining everything was enough.

Turnaround for a warrenty repair two years ago was two weeks.  Turnaround for NM upgrade of my loaded M1A last month was three weeks.  They quoted me 4-6 weeks.  I'm not complainin'.
