I`ve been looking at the DSA Stainless Tactical FAL for a while. I was wondering if the stainless receivers are as strong as the 4140 carbon steel DSA receivers? If anyone has one, how do you like it?

They are AT LEAST "as strong as 4140" , if not a bit more. The 400 series SS is plenty good stuff. I was elk hunting here in WA during "The Flood of the Decade" during November. It was raining like you would have to see to believe. To get an idea, take your rifle out into to the yard and turn the sprinkler on full force until you have rivulets running off your rifle like would be running off your car when you wash it. , now leave it there for 9 days  I was GLAD to have a SS rifle.

stand by....pics coming up  DSA stainless 16". I blasted the bling with ultra fine aluminum oxide for a matte gray finish....about the same texture as parkerizing, none of the rust, none of the reflection. (notice how the flash reflected off the 1911 barrels and the DSA's handguard ring?....not from the receiver or barrel!) |
I hope you already got it....last I heard, DSA was discontinuing the stainless series (eta: just repeating a rumor I heard on the Falfiles....DSA isn't in the office to confirm/deny) |
That looks great! I'm not one for very shiny weapons, because I don't really care for the looks, and if I'm ever in a situation of defense, I don't want the possibility of light reflecting off of the weapon and giving away my position. To each his own, though. Again, awesome job! |
