Here it is, it's 2012 & and I have decided to start reloading again. The last time I pressed a bullet was,,,1985.  Yes that's right 27 years ago. I was looking on AR 15 for a reloading forum but did not check the armory. I thought i knew what i wanted and pretty much decided on a Dillion 550. Going to reload 9 mm .40 .45 & .223. I figured from my own research and checkedwith one friend who reloads and the Dillion would fit the bill.

I have been reading different posts and now I am looking at the Lee as well. Reading other things like the carpet post, not reloading on carpet, this expells me out to the porch. Nobody wants to get blown up. Then u read 9mm is waste to reload due to the low price. Hmmm

I am an avid reader on AR 15 & part time poster. I read more than anything. The advice I give will be the same I receive here.

Why reload? Because I can.
How much do you shoot? Not as much as I could if I had the ammo. If I reload, I would shoot more.
How much do you have to spend? I am not rich but I will make it work& can afford to get it up and running.
Do you have the room? Does anyone have the ideal setup with a family and job without some sacrifice? I even have plans for a bench to build.
Reloading presses are a personal choice. I don't want to make the wrong decision and end up with something I don't want. I have looked on line for some used equipment and it is scarce.

Just venting here guys. I will run over to the reloading shop in the next county and talk to them for some more prices and help.
Hey,,,,thanks for being here.

If you decide on a Dillon, check out Brian Enos' site.

Welcome back!

In hindsight I probably never should have stopped. When I got off active duty, the only job i could get was reloading for my best friends father. Digging the lead out at a range, going to tire stores for lead and checking out fishing spots. Melt it down, cast it, reload from a-z with a RCBS single stage. I reloaded @ 5 days a week for six months. I was ready for a different job. Now I think I ready for another "hobby". Maybe next I will try 3 gun, just to get my butt whooped by a younger person.

Welcome back to reloading. I reloaded on a Rock Chucker for over a decade and finally decided it was time to "upgrade"
I did the Dillion 550 thing and love it. Used to take hours to produce a 100 rounds of 45, now less than an hour "taking my time"
I used to reload 9mm also but with what it cost plus my time compared to cost of loaded ammo, blah. But I still have everything to
load it on the single stage if I ever decide to do it again.

Check around your area and see if there is a store with the presses set-up on display for comparison, where I got my dillion they had Hornady, RCBA and Dillion all
set-up, but I was kinda sold on the Dillion years ago when I first saw a fellas rig in his garage.

Good Luck!

I have pretty much decided between the Lee Turret or the Dillion 550. I am still looking too. The Lee seems more reasonably priced for what I want to do, but I try to keep an open mind.
