I don't hang around here all that much (in the shotgun area), but wanted to tell a story of my shotguns and the stocks I have tiried........maybe I can save some others money in the long run.
I have had expensive shotguns and cheap shotguns. I now only own one shotgun, it is a cheapo, but it is my favorite out of the ones I have owned. I finally found a good combo that works for me.
I don't use a shotgun for work, or anything like that...just blasting.
Here is is....NEF Pardner Protector Pump 12 guage with the following modifications:
1. HiViz Tactical fiber optic shotgun front sight (required drilling and tapping 2 holes)
2. Hogue 12" LOP stock and forearm set
3. Scatter Gun Tech 870 +1 mag extension with QD sling stud
4. Wide sling with QD Swivels.
It is simple, it seems robust and it is easy on the shoulder.
Other stocks I have tried:
1. Factory stock - too long to comfortable shoot, not great with recoil. Was great with Limbsaver, but again...a bit too long on LOP
2. Sage International stock - Recoil was decent, but too heavy and cheek weld was near impossible.
3. Mesa Tactical Low Tube with MOE stock - Recoil sucked, Cheek weld was better then with the Sage, but still hard to pick up the front raised dot, and a bit heavy.
4. The Keeper.......Hogue 12" LOP stock. As long as you put your thumb on the side.....this seems to be the perfect stock set up. It is light, simple and it has a good recoil pad. Also, the short LOP seems to help recoil too. I shot five rounds of 00 buck through it and I questioned if they were marked wrong...they were pussy cats...so were the slugs.
Anyway....I am not screwing around anymore..it is staying this way for good.....I love it. I have even learned to love the "hump" on the rear of the commie made cheapo

I use factory stocks for all of my shotguns. I've tried the collapsible, and hated them on my pump shotguns.

I was bound and determined to use either an AR type stock setup or something......but FOR ME......they don't belong on a shotgun.
