| I really like the look of the MP5 stock...so I was wondering if this stock www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=598&products_id=878 is any more solid then the original one......and does it really fit......... |
No! Avoid any airsoft junk, it will break. I found out the hard way, bought the collapsible version from that same website and it broke into pieces when I first used it. To their credit, airsoft extreme sent UPS to pick up the broken stock and will refund my money. I hear GSG is making some collapsible stocks as well as fix the current production issues with the first batch. |
Hmmmmm what to do.... |
I know man, I'm in the same boat. If your current stock is not cracked, just stick with it, I'm on my second one. GSG posted here they would ship retractable ones in May. I'd wait. Seriously, airsoft stuff is not designed for powder.. i know some folks here have pulled it off and have gotten it to work, but they would agree that was not the intended purpose. I just hope no one gets injured from an airsoft part blowing into pieces during firing and taking someone's eye out or something! |
I have to disagree on this as I've experienced both the CA and G&G UMP stocks. They are impressive and in no way do they feel flimsy. Those of you who have the CA UMP stock can probably validate this. Moreover, the CA UMP fits perfectly (except in Jackal's |
That's what I thought......... |

Lol. It's a .22, not .50 BMG Francis. |

NONE of the parts I have replaced on mine with 'airsoft junk' are any load bearing parts. they are all for a look or a feel. all of the recoil and/or powder charge is contained in the reciever and barrel. as far as I can see its no different than the factory plastic grip on an ar, or the plastic forend on the same ar. now replacing the reciever or barrel(un-doable, but just an example) would not be advised, but stocks and forends??? come on, they may fall apart with some abuse, but its not going to make the gun unsafe or blow apart in my hand. is there any difference in the stock it comes with and the gsg stock that they use on their airsoft mp5?? I doubt it, why would gsg tool up for a 'heavy duty' version for their .22? Im going to continue to use my airsoft folding stock, as well as my airsoft lower with absolutly ZERO fear that it will blow up in my face. |
Can you post pics of your mod.....???? I'd really lke to put a real stock on mine..... |
LOL! for those of you saying to use airsoft, check this out www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=41&t=241463 |

Well for those that want a better grip maybe try this. Fits like it was made for it no cutting involved www.dsarms.com/prodinfo.asp?number=087S |
I will ....BUT I must warn you ...I am dangerous with a dremel.... Just wanted to add that I actually fired my GSG for the first time today.....It functioned flawlessly with WallyWorld Federal, Remington and some CCI mini mags I had lying around...as I expected I still want a more solid stock...but that will be soon remedied...I added this small range report here because with all the threads floating around, I didn't think we needed another one...........The only other comment is that it shot way to the left out of the box...but it was easily adjusted..... |
|
OK guys....this is a real easy mod.............. Use a drum sander on your dremel.....and sand down the right side rail on the inside of the stock....do a little at a time and keep test fitting it as you go.....it wont take much.... when it just fits...stop and leave it tight....the original bolt setup is to short...but I'm sure you will be able to come up with one that fits...... remember you can use an original HK push pin.....although I've read here and there that it's a BATF no-no.........so use caution and discretion..............good luck BTW....the MP5 stock gives the GSG-5 a real solid feel..... just what I wanted |
