I have a 1911, but would prefer a designated host.
Looking at the XD M .45 threaded Remington r1 FN .45 Thoughts? |

HK "tacticals" are good options for many people. The FN pistols are also well regarded by many as are SIG 220's. Glocks have a bad 'balance' to me with a suppressor but are very serviceable too. While I like 1911's in general, they are not my pick as a good suppressor host. |
I'm a big fan of my H&K 45acp hosts. They have been nothing but reliable and the accuracy is great. Tactical, USP compact, HK45CT, and a Mk23.
I also have an R1 Enhanced (obviously on top). 
I'm actually a fan of suppressed 1911's. I've also got a TRP with a Storm Lake threaded barrel and a Commander with an ADCO chopped and threaded Nowlin barrel. Functioning has been great and they sound good. If you want out of the box awesome, get an H&K Tactical 45. |

I have an R1 and a P220 combat, I do like both and have both running reliably now... the 220 seems to be a bit more intolerant if the piston isn't clean and greased
If i had to choose between the two i would pic the R1. Im not normally a 1911 guy and would choose a sig if not using a can but the R1 runs very well suppressed and I seem to shoot a bit more accurately with it for whatever reason. Blowback with both seems about the same to me and there is a lot of it with the Octane. 
USP 45-T and an Osprey are planned for 2017. I just can't think of a more sexy combo. (not my pic)
