I picked up an 870 express synthetic 18.5" barrel, bead front sight and top of receiver rear I find it difficult to get a cheekweld low enough to get a good sight pic. Does the Speedfeed 1 used on the Police Model have a bit more drop or should I consider something else?
Thanks again

Thats the exact problem i have if i shoot a bead sighted 870 with too short of a stock. Is it possible you have a short "youth" "cadet" or LE stock on your shotgun?

A slightly longer stock should fix your problem. I'm only 5' 8" tall but with any of the youth stocked bead sighted 870's I really have to scrunch down to get a good sight picture with the bead. add about 1" to the LOP and its fine.

I'm 6 ft tall and somewhat lanky, I can get a good sight picture if I get way back on the stock. Its a full size gun, maybe a longer stock would help but I think I need more drop?

Mabey try a 1 inch thick slip on recoil pad, over the existing recoil pad. You would be surprised at how much an inch difference in length can raise/lower your sight plane. In any case, its a much cheaper fix, rather than going with an entire different stock.

Just a question though: is it a strait/field stock, or a pistol grip stock? is it wood or plastic?

If its a wood stock, you can always take a rasp and file it down a bit. You COULD do it with plastic too, but the finish is much harder to get, and unless you re-enforce the stock with some epoxy or something, it would weaken it.
