I am looking to buy a usgi stock to modify and I found some on gunbroker but, they say some metal?  What does this mean?  Sorry I am really new to m-14's.

The metal parts to the stock are the buttplate and screws, stock liner and screws, front and rear sling swivels and attachments, and the front ferrule.  They are all readily available.

Go to Freds

Google Fred's m14 stocks see if his prices are in line

You might also want to mention that he should do some research on Fred, especially the customer service side. The good, is Fred's has great stuff at good prices. The bad is it may take months to get your order or, you never receive it all.

"some metal" usually means there is no buttplate, buttplate screws, or rear sling mount.  that means on a usgi synthetic stock only the front sling mount is included.  on a wood stock, you will usually get the stock liner plus the front mount.

the butt plate needs 2 screws one threads into the rear sling loop

then you should be set. the stock liner isnt used in a fiberglass stock or the forearm tip ferral thing
