I need help getting the stock off an AR15 (Colt) post-ban.  I've gotten it down to the spring tube, but I can't get the tube to budge.  Any suggestions?

Sit on it and spin.

Seriously, place it on a cushioned chair or bed. Sit on it and take a crescent wrench to the flats on the end of the tube. Be careful where the buffer retainer and spring go off to.

No foolin'!  you'll only forget about that spring and detent ONCE (belive me! I've searched high and low for the parts too... found the detent about 4 months after I orderd 3 spares)

Use the GI armorers tool if you have it, instead of the Cresent Wrenchâ„¢

The best thing to use is one of those flexible wrenches.  I forget the technical name but it is a band of hard rubber on a holder.  You can get a large one and a small one down at Sears for less than $20.  You see them advertised on TV a lot.  They are great for the tubes.  You can put a lot of pressure on the tube without hurting anything.  I had an Oly with an impossible tube on the receiver.  The band wrench was the only thing that got it off.

Try tightening before loosening. I don't know why it works, but it does.

After you swap out buffer tubes, order a lower vise block for future use.

Thanks guys, I got it.  I should have paid more attention to what you all said about the buffer retainer pin and spring though.  I'll be looking for it here in a minute.  I just didn't want to twist too hard before, thinking I might break something, but a cresent wrench worked great!

I wonder if those DC area recruits would hire out to search for a buffer spring?

I've got a couple of armorers wrenches. A 6-8" adjustable wrench works fine for removal. I use the armorers wrench for barrels and buffer torquing.

No worries.  I found the pin and spring....they didn't fly too far.....just about 5 feet!
