Can they be packed loose in a can with desiccant like pistol rounds?

I don't see why not.

For some extra buckshot I have I left them in the 5 rnd. boxes and then packed them in an ammo can.

A little easier to stack them in.

This is for the "range" box. I really don't need to stack them, I just want to keep a hundred or so slugs in a can for a "grab-and-go" range box.

Come to think of it, thats really not long term storage anyway...

In that case I have a couple of trays that the shells fit in.

Nice and convienent for carring up to the line at 3-gun shoots.

It's a Plano Molding Co. Universal Shell Holder

geez, I have 1000's of clay rounds sitting in their little cardboard boxes sitting in the cardboard case box out in the garage.
As long as they don't get wet they'll be fine.

it's dry here (you're in CO too I see), stuff doesn't rust just sitting around like it does in Florida.
