I took my Century L1A1 out for the second time today (got it second hand off a buddy)
Running new production, federal XM80, I was getting stove pipes every few mags with the gas regulator turned all the way closed (Most gas you can get)

Brass was landing 10' away or so, to about 1 o'clock.

Also, off topic, what kind of accuracy should I expect to get out of the rifle?
(I was getting about 3moa with the xm80)

What's the barrel length?

Are you sure the gas tube and securing pin is installed correctly?

What magazines are you using?

What's the barrel length? 21"

Are you sure the gas tube and securing pin is installed correctly? Not entirely sure, im new to FALs. The gas tube doesnt seem to move, and the piston slides freely
What magazines are you using? Surplus, not sure of origin

3 MOA with surplus ammo is typical accuracy for an SLR/FAL.

change mags
or change springs
or change extractor or bolt

that's not the best FAL out there

Most quality FALs 2 or 3 MOA with ball ammo

Are all of the parts British manufacture?

There's a gas flow issue if you need to close the regulator all the way for it to cycle.

First thing I would check is the gas tube to make sure it's properly installed and pinned. I would also disassemble the entire gas system and check the threads on the tube then clean everything.
