So I am looking to get a high end folder and my two choices are either a Strider SNG or a Zero Tolerance folder. My question for the members of the community in the know is, which one would you get and why? Im not really worried about spending the extra money for the Strider so thats not a factor, just wanna know which one is better and why. Thanks!

Get two ZT's and skip the Strider. I think that Strider is overpriced for what you get. Great knives but overpriced and I have read that the owners are tools to deal with.

So is the actual steel, construction, and durability of the ZT better than that of the SNG? As stated in my original post, im not to worried about the price I just want the best of the two.

Look at the Zero Tolerance 0301, it's a ZT collaboration with Strider. It has the tiger striped blade, frame lock and S30V blade. It's a great knife I had one until not too long ago.

Thanks! Thats actually the ZT I was looking at, that and the Strider SNG w/tanto blade.

The only Strider I have is a fixed blade and its a beast of a knife. I would like to have a folder some day but there are just so expensive. If you go with the ZT 0301 it will serve you well. And in addition ZT/ Kershaw has an awesome warranty and will fix or replace you knife if anything happens for free with a very quick turnaround time.

You might also want to check out the ZT 0550 it's by far my favorite folder I own.

Yea I have a Strider BT SS and love it. I also have the Buck Strider 890 tanto and love that too. Folders are kinda new to me and I just want to make sure that I invest into the right one as both of them are pretty costly and I don't wanna have to do it twice. I just found a guy locally who has a like new Strider SNG w/black tanto blade and ranger green handles for $300. Its only 2 months old and hasn't cut anything with it yet or sharpened it yet. That being said, which one would you go after?

I would never buy a Strider made blade as long as Mickey Ray Burger (Strider) runs the company. Aside from my morals, they're pretty damn expensive for a machine made knife too.

Strider for the lifetime warranty and the fact the SnG opening hole is sized for an O2 bottle.

Never in my life of 46 years have I had the need to open an O2 Bottle. If I did have a need, I'd rather rely on a wrench than a knife blade. Strider can lick my ass, never would I put money into the hands of an honor theif. Fuck him and his overpriced water jet cut knives.

ZT hands down.  0561.

I've had n SMF and SNG.  They're nice knives, but overpriced.  I've since sold them both and gone back to Emerson's.

I wouldn't call either better than the other per se. I have a ZT560 and an SNG and I enjoy and carry both. I do agree that STrider's price is a bit high for what you get and I would hesitate to buy a new Strider because of the company.

So I decided to go with the Strider SNG, BUT, I am also going to get a ZT too. I figure having both would be a good problem to have:) I picked up a 2 month old Strider SNG that was carried a few times but never used for $275 shipped. Thanks for the opinions!

Can someone explain, or point me in the direction to explain all the Strider heartburn?

Yep. His partner Dwayne is the real deal, but Mickey Ray Burger is a phony and a felon. People support permanent bans of members here faking military service, yet have no problem buying overpriced knives from someone like that.

That is unless you believe him carjacking someone to chase after his ex wife and her new lover and then going to prison for it was CIA black ops like he claims.

No offense guys but I started this thread to find out info on and about the knives themselves. To be honest with you I could care less as to weather or not the owner is an a$$hole or not! Malcolm X was an x-con but still made positive contributions to society! James Brown was as crazy as they come and was also an x-con but made great music! And the list goes on and on and on when it comes to people that have been to prison but still are able to make positive contributions to society! Like Jesus once said, "let he who is free from sin cast the first stone".................... Point is, not a single person in this thread, or on this planet for that matter, is perfect and free from doing something wrong at some point in their lives. When it comes to this discussion my only interest is in the knives!

Forgive and forget is great and all, but when you're still claiming you're special forces even though your DD214 and criminal record proves you weren't, it's kind of hard to forget.

I understand what you mean, I just don't agree with supporting people like that. If you're happy with the knife that's all that counts so I digress.

Correction my dear friend:) I asked for opinions about two KNIVES! Not opinions about the two OWNERS of the two companies that produce said knives. BTW, some of the greatest things and facts in existance started with people that others felt were crazy. People once believed that the Earth was flat, that there was no such things as germs, that certain races were insuperior, that electricity was to dangerous to power houses much less cities, and all of these things were changed by people thought to be crazy. Dare to dream! BTW, there are a lot of people in this country right now that would consider you to be crazy because you own a gun and like knives lol. So quit acting like a snob and learn to escape denial and join the rest of us crazies:)

Damn,........sorry I asked the question.

I am retired MSgt, not happy about finding out this info, after I bought a Strider.
CriminalPoet, you need to calm down a tad bit......unless you have served, you have no clue.

Any rate,......I looked at both bought a Strider

Everyone is going to tell you to get a ZT because they are awesome and Mick Strider is a douchebag.  However, I LOVE my Strider SMF CC and have HATED every ZT knife I've handled.  Douchebag, liar, or not - Strider makes a hell of a knife.  YMMV.

Can be very trying when a thread gets sidetracked.  However, that is an issue that hits very hard

Any rate.........can get better pics posted if you need 'em.

I am not aware of the ZT Warranty.  Does it covering snapping the blade off while prying open a door?  The Strider Warranty does.

Yep.  EMT.

In the end I went with Strider! I bought an SNG w/tanto blade and today I have an SMF w/tanto blade coming in. I went to a local tac-shop a couple of days ago to purchase a ZT but after holding it I just didn't like how it felt in my hand. Don't get me wrong though, I can tell that the ZT is a well built good looking knife! But, the Striders just feel better in my hand. Thanks for all of the opinions guys!

The ZT warranty covers pretty much everything, They once even gave me a new 0300 in exchange for a used 0302 because I didn't like the tan scale.
