Not that I live in Ca but is this something that can be built new in Ca or is it something that had to be registered prior to the cutoff date? The dust cover doesn't exactly make for a permanent modification. I imagine if it could be made permanent it would be one option for Ca residents wanting to build new rifles. Its a shame the AR15 can't be modified so easily. It would make alot of Ca residents very happy.
I just re-read your post, is that all it takes to make a new rifle build Ca legal? |

Tapco is now having a sale on Stripper-feed Picatinny rail dust covers. Check it out. www.tapco.com/product_information.asp?number=MNT2417&back=yes |

As far as I'm concern it's legal! The FAL rifle, unlike the AK/SKS and the AR "series" of rifles isn't on "the list". The magazine now requires a tool to remove from the weapon - but with a screw driver and 60 seconds (40 of that is to loosen the damn hex screw) I can return it back. The stripper clip does require some machine work on the receiver that is permenent but nothing that would prevent the normal dust cover from being replaced and working just fine in the future - about a 10 second job. People have rights. |

the Fal isnt on the list? what does that mean? my DSARMS SA-58 carbine is registed as an AW. the new BS assault weapon law is based on characteristics, Not model numbers. i live 30 minutes from EnterpriseArms...they are still selling the stg-58 minus pistol grip and NO magazine.... your set up should be legal tho.. Fixed 10rd mag and pistol grip....there is an CA AR15 with the same setup..fixed 10rd fed with stripper clips. |
An FAL without a pistol grip or flash suppressor is good to go. Shooting it is a bitch - that screw hanging down - and nothing to hold the trigger guard on - and an exposed trigger spring. The AR I would be interested in - a stipper clip would only effect the upper - not the lower. Which strikes me as odd because the lower is the rifle - not the upper. |
