I asked over on HKPro and haven't gotten a hit, so thought I'd try here...

I installed a #28 locking piece in my SBR Z5-P, and the bolt gap ballooned from .35mm to .55mm, which is a tad over max (max is .50). I ordered a set of -4 rollers from rtg...but imagine my surprise when they showed up and were the exact same size as the unmarked rollers that came from the factory. Apparently the factory installed -4 rollers, and didn't bother to mark them in the first place They mike out the same size as -4 rollers, 7.96mm. I wish I had thought to measure them before I ordered a set of rollers...but. anyway.

Anyway - being a new locking piece, I know it should 'settle in' and the bolt gap will close some with use. The question is...would it be safe to take to the range as-is, put 100-200 rounds though it with the bolt gap a little wide, and see if it wears in and closes up to a safer distance? Or would I absolutely need to order a set of -6 rollers before even considering taking it to the range with the new locking piece...I don't know the ramifications of shooting a roller gun with a slightly wider than max spec bolt gap

Shoot it without the rollers for awhile and then check gap with them installed again.

Your gap is already really wide IMO.

How so? HK spec is for the gap to be between .25 and .45mm, max of .50mm...

I could be wrong but I think .05 is a bit much to expect it will settle in.

I never once thought to check roller gap when switching locking pieces.
