I'm kicking around the idea of reloading for the .50... and wondered how difficult it was to load subsonic ?.

I will probably order an Elite Iron suppressor for my AR50 in the next week or two... and figured subsonic ammo would be the most effective.

Any tips, tricks, secrets, recipe's ?

I'll have the RCBS 50bmg kit...  CCI #35 primers and a bunch of Hodgdon 50bmg powder in the next week or two...
This should cover standard velocity loads... but what will I need to load the slower stuff ?

Will the 750gr Amax stabilize with an AR50 twist rate at subsonic speeds ?

Lets hear some ideas.

Thanks in advance.

I think you will have to find a faster burning powder that has a lower density to fill more of the case. I think some of the Hornady 570Gr bullets would be much more likely to be stable.

Very impressive.  What was your process on the load, did you experiment and work it up or did you find a source for the data?

Oops, sorry should have said it wasn't my video. I know a guy who uses the same load though. The energy retained at 600 yards is amazing with those things. I don't reload for my 50 yet, only 308 and 223 so far,  but will make some subs as soon as I start.

THAT'S what I was looking for.

I thought I recalled reading somewhere that a guy was loading them with shotgun powder...

I think I will look in to that...

What kind of velocities and energy is he getting?  And trajectory?

Loading only 35 grains of powder... I wonder what was used to fill the remaining empty volume in the case ?

Man it was awhile ago when I talked to that guy at the range. He told me his load and I looked it up and found that YouTube vid of the same thing and I saved it. I plane on tring it out myself oneday. The guy in that vid says he get right at 1000 fps but I remember the energy being way up there at 600 which is what has always stuck with me.
