Looking for a rimfire suppressor host for the .22 can I am getting soon. So far I have narrowed my choices to the follwing: Ruger 10/22 Savage Mark II Synthetic, heavy barrel CZ 452 I am currently leaning towards the Savage pretty heavily, but I have always wanted a 10/22. What can I say, my Dad was a Winchester guy so no 10/22 for me. |

If I don't get a 10/22 first, I will get one shortly there after. I definitely plan on getting a pistol for the suppressor as well. Right now I was thinking of the Ruger mk II or III. The only thing I don't understand is why you don't see many or the Ruger pistols with the factory heavy barrels threaded. Everyone has the $250 Tac Sol upper on them. |
Is it my imagination, or is it every time someone from Texas posts a picture of one of their firearms, there's also a can/bottle of beer near it... |
Now that's funny... |
I did. When I bought my Gemtech I sent them the upper from my bull-barrelled MkII. They moved the front sight back 1/2-inch, threaded the end, crowned it (at my request), and then made a thread protector out of a Ruger barrel blank. At arm's length you can't see the machining mark, and unless you noticed the re-positioned front sight you'd never know it was threaded. They did the work for about $100 and had it back to me in about two weeks. The barrel one of my 10/22s was threaded by Kurt's Kustom Firearms. The other 10/22 has a TacSol barrel on it - still need to get my scope mounted. Pics will be posted soon for your enjoyment. |

I cannot say enough good things about the CZ452. As soon as I turn 21 this fall I am going to put a nice silencer on it to acheieve the .22 sub, bolt action, silenced, spooky, hollywood quiet. I would recomend then 452 American because it has 2 action screws (instead of 1 action screw and a barrel lug like most of the other 452's). All of the 452's are nice rifles but that sets the American just ahead of the varmint for me. It's less prone to POI shifts if you take the stock off and its easier to bed. I got 3/4" at 100 yards with the wally world federal boxes but i haven't been able to try it since bedding. s162.photobucket.com/albums/t242/jsriolo/?action=view¤t=cz2.jpg s162.photobucket.com/albums/t242/jsriolo/?action=view¤t=shooting004.jpg s162.photobucket.com/albums/t242/jsriolo/?action=view¤t=shooting002.jpg |
| If you really want quiet, get a 77/22 bolt gun and have it integrally suppressed. All you will hear is the click of the hammer dropping and the bullet striking. It's the most quiet suppressed firearm I have ever heard. You won't be able to swap the suppressor around, but it will be Hollywood quiet and if you like, just swap barrels and you can shoot unsuppressed. |

Thanks for all of the replies! While no one said anything about them in this thread, I have decided to go with the Savage Mark II synthetic/heavy barrel. After shooting the lighter barreled version and getting a quote at Wall World of $205.00, I have decided that it is the best option. Next I am going to get a Ruger Mark II/III pistol and throw a Tactical Solutions upper on it and after that I am going to get a 10/22 to trick out. I thought long and hard about the CZ, but at $325-$400, I just couldn't find it in the budget. Can anyone recommend optics for the poodle shooter? I am thinking of about a $100 budget. |

I have a Mueller APV on my .22 and I think it's very nice for $115 shipped. www.mizzoumuleguns.com/id12.html |
