New at this guys and have a few questions. I want to buy a surefire 7.62 mini and be able to mount it on my 5.56 guns.

looking at the threads of the muzzle brakes the 5.56 and 7.62 brakes are different. Would i just need to have my 5.56 barrels re-threaded? and how hard is that to do?

Thanks alot

Any of the larger bore SOCOM series suppressors will mont to a smaller bore adapter. So a SOCOM762-MINI will lock up tight on a 5.56 adpter as you are looking to do. No need to rethread your rifles. Hope that helps you out.

Garin's correct.

The devices are different so that you can't mount a 556 can on a 762 mount. Which would be bad news bears. But will still allow for the mounting of a 762 can on a 556 mount.

One thing I did learn and is hard to explain well was that after shooting my 7.62 Mini on 5.56 guns the locking ring on the suppressor had carbon build up that would not allow it to fit back on the 7.62 mounts without extra scrubbing and chipping the carbon off the inside of the locking ring.  I think the diameter of the 5.56 mount in front of the locking teeth area is less on the 5.56 mounts.  That would allow carbon build up.  After shooting the can would not fit back on my 7.62 FH or Break mounts.

This was just my experience with my exact gear, YMMV.
