No, not where to find any, just simple ballistic data. Took advantage of the unDecember-like weather to do a little chrono work today. All the data represents ten shot strings with chrono 10 feet from muzzle, at 60 degrees with practically no humidity. The rifle is a pre 90 Springfield M1A with all TRW parts and SAK barrel 22" barrel. Round - Year - Ave. velocity - Extreme spread - Standard deviation Malaysian - 1980 - 2713 - 82 - 29 South African - 1980 - 2723 - 71 - 26 Lake City - 1965 - 2814 - 44 - 13 Lake City - 2005 - 2820 - 49 - 16 Hirtenberger - 1978 - 2833 - 65 - 19 Port. - 1976 - 2751 - 61 - 21 Cavim - 1988 - 2789 - 65 - 18 POF - 1979 - 2756 - 83 - 27 Radway Green - 1985 - 2794 - 36 - 12 Australian - 1988 - 2821 - 40 - 13 All rounds shot well and the only real not was that the POF had an ammonia smell stronger than the others. The Radway Green seems to smoke more than the others. In fact, I was also shooting a DSA FAL with a combo device and the smoke as directed forward through the device with the RG would frequently cause data errors. Neither the Cavim or POF was as dirty as I expected but I only shot a box (20 rounds) of each through the rifle. I have tried to find some German DAG and MEN to test but so far been unsuccessful. If anyone has a small amount of about 40 rounds each, I would buy it and include that data for comparison as well. |
