Have read the receiver is pretty tough to drill for a permanent mount ? Any info advice out there ?

Walk in the park,

EDM to drill a smaller pilot channel that will lightly anneal just the "to be" threaded areas, then final pilot drill with carbide bit and KOMET or Helion tool tap the channels.

Hence if you think that your just going to use HSS drill bits and standard HSS taps, it going to end badly since the receiver metal is just about as hard as the HSS tools to begin with.

And if you want to make a mini EDM for  mill for this type of project, as well as burning out broken taps when needed,
