Ok, I got my new Impact and went to the range.

did not have a lot of time, but I am a little rankled.

the gun using 90 gr of Triple Seven with a 240 gr TC XTP sabot shoots almost 4 inches high at 50 yards.  The rear sight is as low as it can go.

I called up TC customer service and the guy at the other end tells me I need to raise the sight.  OK, he got it wrong.  Oh well.

In any case, what do I do next?  do heavier bullets hit higher?  should I work up to the max with the 240 gr XTP, i.e., load to 150 gr of powder?  will this lower impact????

I will eventually buy a scope, but the given sights should work, they should be regulated, right??   BOOO to you at TC...

What say you all?

Not sure how the front sight is attached to that particular rifle but if it is attached with screws, you may be able to shim it by tracing out the sight base on an aluminum can, cutting it out and placing it between the barrel and sight. some manufacturers offer replacement sights in different heights too.

If it were me, I try out all potenial loads and pick the most accurate before making too many sight adjustments. I have worked up several good loads with different bullets that group well but all hit the target in different spots.  There may be a bullet/load combo that is accurate and has the ballistics you're looking for while stll being in the original sights range of adjustment.

Johnny:
exactly what I was thinking.  I have some heavier bullets, up to 350 gr, and some old slower powder which should help.

TC customer service was really, I guess "inadequate" to say the least.  I have had really good service from them in the past.   hmmmm.

I will try the shim thing if the other loads do not work, I suspect they will however.

thanks
