Ok, I'm new to NV,  Is the TM14 PVS-14 mount supposed to lock up the Objective focus?

When I install my TM14, I can not rotate the objective focus any more.  Before I even install the screw in the TM14, I can just grip the ring and the focus gets tight......

Is this correct?

Thanks

Back the tension down in increments, until you have no problems rotating the objective focus ring.

When I install the screw, I threaded it down to touch and gave it a 1/4 turn.  Bound up.

I can grip the ring with no screw and it binds up.

Teddy Gih sent me an email, I sent him some pics.

I have the same problem. I've had mine for months, just barely tightened. The problem is the dang housing and lockring is soft and squeezes down on the threads underneath, so its unavoidable with this design IMO. Make sure the ring is as far as it will go onto the objective. This helps a bit.

I will be talking with a TNVC guy later this afternoon.  They have been very responsive to my issue.

If this is the nature of the mount, I will be exchanging it for the other type of mount.

I am interested in this topic as well.  The question remains, does the use of the TM14 prevent being able to use the objective focus ring?  Any users want to chime in?

No it does not never has. It's in the adjustment itself.

I spoke with a TNVC guy the other day.  We are going on the assumption that the TM14 is out of spec.
When I install it loose enough the objective can be focused, the site can be spun in the ring.
When I tighten it just enough to not eb able to spin the site in the ring, the objective is locked up.
One thing to consider, I can not slide the TM14 over the objective without spreading it open with a screwdriver.
So that was one hint the ring was out of spec.
Second thing, the area around the screw has large gaps (3/16" or so) where the pictures of the mount on the web site do not have those large gaps.

This issue happens on both PVS14's I ordered so again, another indicator the mount is the problem.

Am returning the TM14 for a replacement.  Ted and all the TNVC people have been great.
