| Looking at buying some kit from them. Seem to have good prices, technology in the gear. What are everyone's thoughts on them? |

I'd say they have pretty good gear. I've been using it for about two years (range time & two classes) and have no complaints. The rifle and pistol adjustable mag pouches haven't let me down and I like the small dump which doesn't take up too much space on my belt. Everything still looks new.
One thing I would like to do soon is pick up a Taco or two for a comparison. I've always been curious as to which of the two pouches would be better. |

I decided to buy some Tyr stuff, and so far I am generally pleased. I should do a review video one of these days. The earlier posts are true. The only complaint I have is the magazine side pockets are kinda useless. 30 round mags dig into my armpits and are impossible to draw. This may be a problem specific to me. I'm 5'6" and wear a small PC, so I may be missing out on a row or two of molle and I also don't have a lot of toso length. Take caution if you decide to order a brokos belt. I wear a size 29 and I still ended up ordering a large. The padding on it adds more inches than you may realize. Here's a picture I took before Outbreak Omega 6. Since then, I've dumped the tomahawk for 2 mag pouches, replaced the standard cummerbund with the 2 cord QR slotted cummerbund, replaced the two 30 round mags on the side with 20 round mags, added Thor shoulder pads w/t-34 soft armor, added an admin pouch above the mags, replaced the holster with a drop duty belt G Code holster, replaced the black Ares Ranger Belt with the Tyr PV base belt. I also moved some mag pouches around. Pictured: Pico (standard) Happy Mag kangaroo pouch x-frame system x-frame-brokos belt Micro SOF IFAK Trauma shears pouch Not attached: Admin pouch w/flashlight holder SOF IFAK various Tyr mag pouches Everything else is from other manufacturers. I'll eventually post some updated pics in the gear forums with all of the changes I mentioned earlier. A couple notes on the slotted cummberbund with the quick release cord: The QR system does not allow for overlapping in the back (the cummerbund attaches with velcro in the back), so it is approximately 6-10 inches larger than the standard cummerbund. Also, the slotted cummerbund isn't nearly as stiff as the standard and sags just a little bit as I have worn it. It didn't cause any issues. |
| I have been running their Pico vest for the last 3 months (Afghanistan). Took a while for it to be made, but its top of the line. Very lightweight, and compact. its just barely larger than the size of the actual plates. I also purchased the side plate adapters w/ soft armor, but don't run side plates in the cummerbund, just the soft armor. The cummerbund sits nice and tight to the body and keeps the carrier from moving around on me AT ALL. With my previous carrier (Eagle) I would cinch it down as tight as I could and it would still shift when running or just moving around the vehicles, on a foot patrol, etc. The Pico stays nice and tight and has no spot that pinch on my body. My setup is 3 5.56 mags across the front with the built in kangaroo flap, Med Kit to the right, Taco 5.56 pouch to the left. Plus belt and all that jazz. But I definitely highly recommend Tyr's equipment, especially the Pico. |
| The velco-backed pouches on the cummerbund make things very nice and modular on their plate carriers. A PICO or PICO-MV can be slicked down in 3 minutes and worn concealed if the job requires it. Top quality, the owner is a great guy, the service is beyond excellent, and their occasional sales are hard to beat. |
