There are a couple of vids of these things on Youtube. I suppose they are supposed to be a safe alternative to a homeowner burning down his house with flashbangs.

Novelty item? Useful?

Right off the bat I'd say novelty item, but I could be wrong.

I like the original tactical balls. Mine are original equipment & made of brass.  I keep two in my pants at all times.  I used them in several SHTF situations.    They also help keep your center of gravity low for better balance.  However, mine don't light up.

That's the dumbest thing I've seen in a long time. But then again the inventor of the Chia Pet is a billionaire.

Put tactical in front of anything and it will sell.

They could certainly be a distraction but they are not an alternative to a flashbang, the blast pressure of a flashbang does most of the work, not the visible flash itself.

I've been trying to figure out for who these were developed.

As a homeowner, I have to decide:

Hear a noise, grab firearm and flashlight.
or
Hear a noise, grab firearm and three balls.

Maybe they aren't for homeowner use. I can't see any situation where these would be my "go to" item.

think about a large cargo bay in a ship where the possibility of flammables may be present........  just looking for a quick diversion..

"hmm if I throw a flash bang some of this stuff might burst into flames...I know I'll throw some LED lights and then run in there shooting and hope for the best!"

I think maybe one of them strobing gun lights might be a better option in your scenario...in all honestly I would chuck a FB and just hope for the best...or wait the bad guys out..maybe seal them in there.

Always thought it was a crock that our lights and radios had to be "Intrinsically Safe"  ...... um... what about the Sig on my hip?   The response was "Everything always isn't about a gun fight."

Then you go do it.....
