I was at the gunstore today and was going to pick up a used Ruger Mk II pistol for $209. While I was there, I looked at some of the bolt actions 22s for my twin nephews (almost 8). My brother is set on a magazine fed bolt actions for the twins, so we'll probably get them a pair of Savages. Anyways, while I was looking I saw the Taurus 22 pump, 16.5 bbl. I really liked the way it felt and I am thinking about getting it for myself instead of the Ruger. I think my wife and little girl would have a blast with it. Does anyone have any experience with them? |
I have the Rossi short 16.5" that is just like the Taurus, without the funny safety. The wommenz seem to like the pump |

+1 on the Taurus pump. I have one of the stainless mod 72 carbines (22 mag) and it is "barrel-of-monkeys" fun - well made and assembled, light weight and surprisingly accurate. I liked the traditional design and bought it on an impulse not expecting much and not really thinking I would use it that much. As it turns out it has become one of my favorite and well used firearms - it's just so much damn fun to grab it as you walk out the door and plink with it. I got one of the scope adapters for it but really haven't been moved to install it. My advice - GO FOR IT! I seriously doubt you will regret it. Cheers |

I just bought one for my dad for Xmas (blued, longer barrel), and decided to test it out Sunday. I've got several long guns, and I swear I'm better with this little rifle 1st time out the gate than anything else I own (which irritates me, but what ya gonna do?). I also got a tang rear sight with it ($30), and although the leaf rear that's standard kinda co-witnesses with it for now (trying to figure out how to remove this part without harming the rifle since it's rivited on), the tang sight is the easiest to adjust for windage and elevation I've ever used. I was off a little bit, <click-click> left, <click-click-click> up... perfect. After years of fighting with the M16's front and rear sights, this was a joy. I guess I now know why dad's been wanting one for years, but I dunno, he did say he wanted a holster for the 1847 Walker replica I got him last Xmas, this rifle may be a keeper! |
