I generally run away from Taurus, except for the PT-92/99 and Model 94 revolvers, but I got a good deal on a CT-40 carbine.
I haven't fired it yet. It came with (2) 10rnd. mags., which look like modified UZI mags. Does anyone here have experience with Taurus carbines? |
| There was another thread here a year or two ago where another member had heavily modded his CT-9 into an almost UMP configuration, complete with chopped barrel, chopped fore-end, pistol grip and folding stock. He also modded Colt 9mm SMG mags to run in his gun. I tried searching for it but it may have been archived. |
| Have the CT-9. I heavily modded mine. It's a flawless shooter that's crippled by the lack of magazine availability. It functions very much like an Uzi or UMP. Build quality and finish are excellent. It's a civi version of a Brazilian Spec Op subgun. I paid $350 for it and added about $100 in mods and would do it again. Also, I think There is an excellent barrel shroud available. |

Sadly there are no Hi Cap mags, although there were rumors and promises made. And, at $350 I would have bought one, but not the $650 that so many dealers around here wanted for them. I guess that is why they are gathering dust on their shelves. Too bad...could have made a nice toy. |

Prices aren't bad on them at all... I'm seeing only a few on GunBroker, but one is listed at $570.
If they had 922r parts and 30 round mags available, I'd probably 'pull the trigger' on one. Read one review that basically said "It could be a winner if Taurus gets 30 round magazines, 922r parts and other stocks available" and I agree. Right now, a CZ Skorpion carbine is #1 on my list, but I'm expecting those will sell for around $1k. It's already got some great things going for it (cheap mags, parts, 922r shit... etc), but for a little more than half the price, I'd get a CT-9 if I could (eventually) SBR it, put a folding stock on it and get inexpensive 30 round mags. |

Can you give me a link to this barrel shroud? I called Taurus two days ago and everything for the CT's is on back order. You have place an order and get on the waiting list. |

It looks awesome on the gun. |
