I wanted to see what real potential my Tavor had. I've been less than thrilled with my 100 yard groups with my EoTech 512, so I yanked the Leupold off my AR and put it on my Tavor and went to the range with three ammo choices I had laying around.
Pic of ludicrous looking set up. 
First ammo is Black Hills 55gr. FMJ 223 ammo. Shot into right at 1.75". Very happy with this and removed any doubt right away if the rifle was usable or not. 
Next up was Remington HogHammer loads. This is a 62gr. Barnes TSX bullet loaded by Remington. First three shots had me really happy... 
But reality, or my shooting, kicked in and five came in just under 2". 
Last ammo I have to test was Tulammo... 
First five rounds were so bad I fired five more into a 10 shot group that was at 4.5". On the left side of the target are five rounds of the Black Hills ammo with my EoTech at 100 yards. Four were really good, but I pulled one way out into left field. 
Given some more practice and getting used to the trigger I think this little bullpup will be a keeper. |

The barrel on the Tavor is not free floated. Some people remove a U shaped spacer that goes around the barrel to help mitigate anything from touching the barrel.
The Tavor was designed to hit targets out to 300 meters and CQB, 3 MOA is adequate in that arena. I've had several H-Bars because I like accuracy but with the Tavor it is filling a role where compactness and ergo's is favored over accuracy. I bought a Tavor because it is the shortest rifle I can own since I can't own a SBR where I live. The 16 1/2" barrel is a bonus as it has the same effective range as my AR-15 carbine. |
