To start off with damn fine day. Ok so I am working on a load for my FNC. So I bust out the mount and throw a 4X IOR M2 on it. First got to get the optic zeroed. 25 yards Cool 50 cool the 100 I fight with it for 30 rounds but it turns out to have a POI more than a zero. I tried 9 loads with all are giving me a 3 to 4 inch group. it is looking like this rifle may just be a bullet hose after all. 1/4 minute of bad guy but nothing to brag about. I clean the barrel and finish up and get my best group of 2.75. So Decide the day is over and put a few mags in full auto with my blasting loads. The I dig around in my shooting bag and I find an old 20 round mag full of my old coyote ammo. A nosler 50gr over some long forgotten amount of 748. So i figure what the hell I dont even have the rifle I worked this load up in. I shoot 5 rounds of this and Wham. 1.25 inch group. I then finish out the mag basting the center out of the 3 inch shoot n see. None outside of it. Why oh why do my rifles have to like the pricey bullets? My carbine lead rounds are very weak and shoot 3 inches low at 100. but a great day over all. |
| 748 works well with 52-55 gn bullets. Is there any possibility the barrel was fouled? Guys who say they never clean their gun because it shoots better after it has some down the pipe are usually shooting a fouled barrel that loosens up the fouling after it gets hot enough and then shoots good. I am not saying that is your trouble, but you can bank on that info with guys who like em dirty. |
