I was going to go to the gunshow today.

Needed a book on my new gun since the company manual that came with it was quite inadequate. See if I could get a soft case for it. Check on buying more parts, magazines for it. And, of course, if ammo was in a decent range, buy more ammo for it and my other guns.

That's the way it goes, isn't it? Guns are barbi dolls. You buy one model then are our forever looking for things to support it, go with it, accesorise.

I did go to the gunshow ....... only when I got there, they had moved, parking lot was empty like an Apocolyptic movie. Even when I had checked their website before I left. The gas station attendant next store gave me an approximate location but even with that, even with searching the newspaper, no go. Guess I'll have to accesorise at another show some other time.

I'll see if I can clarify this.

One buys a gun. Usually, it comes with one, MAYBE two magazines. One ends up buying a lot more magazines, of various sizes for it. Then, you can't go around carrying it in the box it came in, so one gets a carrying case of some sort. If there wasn't sufficient information in the kit, such as how to clean it, one looks for a manual on it. Say the sling wasn't to one's liking, so they get a new sling. Or maybe they want to put a different scope on it, another thing to add to it. And on and on.

Guns are Barbi Dolls. One buys the basic model but the basic model is hardly ever just enough. So they pour more and more money into it, having all these things they can attach, use with the gun.

So, you have daughters?
I'm guessing your not going to find a lot of folks on this board that know anything about Barbie, so your analogy is somewhat poor.

How about substituting "Golf Clubs" or "fishing rod" for barbie.

Do you know about Divorce Barbi?

You get Barbi and ALL of Ken's stuff.

For me, it's just the opposite. I've got guns that I've wanted to put optics, slings, different furniture, etc on and every time I end up spending all my money on another new gun, rather than the "accessories" for the last one.

Of all the things I thought might be associated with firearms, enter the barbie doll. I sure as hell never saw that one coming.

I can relate. I have found quite a few $50 bargains that I had to buy a $100 book to figure out or a $70 part to complete.
