Quoted: Quoted: ... and some of you already know why... You can't do that to me...have you not seen my repeated references to my battle with OCD???? Note the serial # prefix is "GO." That is only used for General Officer's M9s issued by DoD to flag officers. Upon retirement, flag officers are given the option of purchasing/keeping their issued sidearm. These, as you can imagine, are few and far between... and this is one of the very early ones issued after the transition to the M9. My Dad retired as a Major General from the USAR (prior to his retirement, he commanded all the Army Reserve units in the southeastern US, the largest reserve command at the time {probably still is}). He isn't really a "gun guy" and wasn't even going to exercise the purchase option until I begged and pleaded that he do so. He did and, a few years later, gave the gun (along with the box, mags, DoD papers, dress leather holster and mag-pouch, etc.) to me to keep and pass on down to my son (his first and, to date, only grandson) eventually. Guns come and go from my collection, but this one ain't going anywhere. |
