Looks like a beautiful rifle.  Except for that FUGLY butter knife looking bolt handle.  Fancy walnut as a standard option for a decent price!!!!  The they go and screw it up with that handle.

ETA: HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...I just read the article in American Hunter and they described the handle as "butter-knife"!   Then they go on to say it can be replaced with "other styles".  Cool rifle though, and if you don't want to reload and take a gamble on that promising Hornady 30TC, then this is it.

S&W seems to me getting agressive in the market the last few years. I'm not sure the 30TC will survive. It's so close to a 308 in size and ballistics. It's always nice to have more choices though.

S&W?  I'm not tracking.  They have the I-Bolt...

sorry mixed up S&W's new bolt rifle with the T/C. Since S&W bought T/C and both have new bolt guns I got mixed up there.

I have the American Rifleman sitting here with the T/C on the cover.

Yes seems funny T/C would go with a weak extractor design, and the new S&W i bolt is built with a pivoting type extractor.

I did read an article online reviewing the new S&W i bolt. They had numerous problems with the way S&W designed the bolt release on the i bolt, also light strike misfires.

I suppose it's kinda hard to improve alot on the turn bolt. Mauser got it pretty much right with the 98, Winchester refined it a little with the pre 64 and there have been a whole bunch of design variations since, most of wich to lessen manufacturing cost and increase profits.

About the best deal going on a new rifle at this time IMHO is the Howa. Forged reciever with integral lug, forged one piece bolt. pivoting Sako extractor. All at the price of a Savage, kinda hard to beat.
