I don't know much about thread extensions, would one work for my rifle below?

I've been keeping a beater Marlin .357 tucked away for an eventual thread (1/2x28) & refinish job.  Most likely I'm going to have to trim the magazine tube to accommodate a suppressor, but the front site is far enough back it should be OK.

However, I've been wondering about a thread extension.  I admit I've never fooled much with thread extensions, but could I remove barrel, have it threaded to 1/2x28, and thread on a 1/2x28 to 1/2x28 extension to give me enough threads to clear the end of the magazine tube?  Not sure of the outside diameter of the extension, but if the outside diameter of the extension is smaller than the barrel it should work and fit without cutting the magazine tube…I think.

I have some thread extensions on some .22s for rimfire suppressors, any issue with extensions on bigger guns?  Could this work?

Simply having it threaded is about 1/3rd of the price of having things cut, moved, etc.

The inside diameter of the Silencerco 1/2x28 adapter is way too small for a .355 or .357 bullet to go through. From what I have read in other threads, TROS may be able to help you out.

I've heard TROS will make any kind of adapter I need, he's done some cool stuff for sure.  I was mainly using the silencerco adapter picture to illustrate what I was thinking; if 1/2x28 is too small perhaps the .578x28 would be more appropriate.  I guess my question is would a thread extender work adequately in this situation without having to mess with the magazine tube or barrel band?

About a $150 difference in simply having the barrel threaded and adding an extension vs. the elaborate moving stuff around.
