Is there any issue with using a standard ½x28 thread with a Spectre II.

Seems like it would bugger up the o-ring

I'm looking for an adapter for an M&P 22 compact. It's hard for me to tell from S&W's website but their factory adapter doesn't appear to have the relief cut. I also have an SR22 and the adapter for it isn't SiCo spec

As long as the thread is 0.4" in length, there will be no issues with the threads contacting the o-ring.

Thanks. I'll see if the adapter I was looking at has that spec listed.

Does the thread not contacting the o-ring cause any issues I.e. can coming loose?

SiCo has a drawing showing the threading dimensions.

Haven't shot tons but as long as you snug it on there I have never had one come loose.  You don't need to bear down on it either.

No issues - it's just like any plain rimfire threaded application.

The issue arises when standard threads are longer than 0.4" and you run into the o-ring, either tearing the o-ring or causing alignment issues.

My Spectre II loosens almost immediately on my Tac Sol Buckmark barrel. It's a real pain. I got the SilencerCo 1/2x28 to 1/2x28 w/ o-right surface adapter that will hopefully fix the problem. It just arrived yesterday and I'm going to shoot it tomorrow. It looks kinda goofy but if it works I will be happy, I'm always nervous shooting that gun knowing that the can unscrews itself.

You might try plumbers teflon tape on the threads. It works well on my handguns. I use the SiCo adaptor on my rifles since most are under the rail.

That's what I was looking for. Sounds like I might as well get the SiCo adapter for my M&P and save myself the trouble

Where did you get your ½x28 to ½x28 adapter?
