Hey y'all,

I am wanting to build a truck gun and I am pretty sold on running an 870.
I know for sure I want a side saddle to keep the ammo on hand but not loaded
in the gun. Can I use a top folder with a side saddle? Would I need to do some
trimming? Drastic modifications? I don't care much for side folders. I need to
keep the guns width to a minimum. The side saddle already makes for a tight
fit behind the seat, but it's a good tight fit.
I just want it as compact as I can get it, with out goin the sbs route.

So any experience with this? Advice? Pics?

If you want to keep the gun's width to a minimum you might do what I did:

It is just a Bulldog 6rd buttcuff that I folded and sewed up around a Remington factory top folder.

I've tried modifying a couple receiver mounted saddles with no luck.  The closest I found is the 4 shell receiver mount Mesa, but that will still need to be ground on to work with the Remington top folder.

I think LoadedDrum's idea is pretty viablle as well or actually finding a way to use the built in shell holder on the stock (retention strap).

That's not a bad set up drum!
I am not a huge fan of the elastic stuff, but that looks like it worked out pretty well.

Someone on this board has modified a Tacstar 6rd enough to work with the factory folder FWIW. I don't recall who however.
