Broke the 17 out today for some range time. Been sittin’ in the safe for the last year, with the cover over the optic. When I cleaned a put it away, the optic was cherry. This morning I get to the range and discover the green recticle/chevron has bloomed out. Round halo in green.  Almost can’t see the chevron. I read some stuff in archive saying the only thing to be done is to cover/tape over the fiber optic line. Knowing that a SCAR17 is hell on optics, could this have ben done at my last range time 1 year ago ? It still shoots zero at 100 with no issues. What does this forum think ? |

Pretty common problem with ACOGs. Can't say I've seen it happen to that extent before, but then again, 90% of the time, I've had tape on my ACOGs. I ran the same ACOG on my SCAR for 12 years with no problem. While possible it is due to the SCAR's recoil, I'd bet the lighting conditions are more of a factor. |
