Pros & Cons of both? I'm looking for a 9mm can with interchangeable mounts. Primary use with be on a 3-lug subgun, secondary use will be on threaded Glock. It needs to be full-auto capable. I've already ruled out the Evo because a) it is primarily a pistol can, and b) the 3-lug mounts aren't out yet. I've handled and shot a Trident, but don't have any hands-on with a Trinity. Both are from good companies with good reputations for quality and service. Prices are comparable for both. Has anyone heard both side by side to know which is quieter? Thanks! SmallChange |
Nope, but I will in a couple of months. I do know that the Trident can is larger, so it might be quieter, but I am guessing. I have the Trinity, but not the Trident yet. |
| I own a Gemtech Trinity and I am very pleased with mine. On a M9, which is what I think Gemtech orginally designed it for although there are different mounts, I can shoot all day without hearing protection, using subsonic ammo of course. On a Glock its ok, but it seems quieter on the Beretta. I would have no issue with putting the Trinity on a subgun. With that said, the Trident has a little more volume so it should handle FA fire a little better. As you have already wrote, both come from great companies who stand behind their products. If it were me, and I made this same choice last year, I would go with what the dealer had in stock or could get easier. |

I love my Trident9,and it is what I own, so I will naturally recomend it. I have also shot a SBR'd 9mm AR with Trinity, it work very well too. I know for a fact that the Trident is FA rated, but I am unsure if the Trinity is as well. Flip a coin, as both are good suppressors. |

I have heard both, and there is no comparison. Trident is FAR better than the Trinity. I don't even consider the Trinity a good can at all. It is extremely loud compared to the Trident. I was initially looking at the Trinity, because Gemtech has always had decent cans. This is one of the few Gemtech cans that I have NOTHING good to say about it. Trident is a far better suppressor. Or look at the Evo 9. It is what I ended up getting, but I shot all three side by side before making my decision. Hope that helps. Kent |

I own both. Pro's and Con's to both. I personally think the Trinity gets a bad rap due to it's booster/LID/LCD design. Gemtech does not port their booster like SWR and AAC does. Porting the booster makes them quieter but also requires more maintenance (in my experience). I've never had to clean my Gemtech booster and it just keeps working. I have had to clean my SWR booster and likewise I have friends where they had to clean their AAC Evo booster as well. The Trident has a slightly larger OD than the Trinity and so it blocks the sights more on pistols. I like a suppressed Beretta the most which doesn't use booster and it cycles 100%. Yes, I've tried my Trident on my Beretta and it blocked the sight more and requires going to weaker springs to cycle. The Trident also has a stainless blast baffle for FA fire and so it's a little heavier. I think they are both excellent multipurpose cans but the Trident is a little better in the SMG side while the Trinity is better for the pistol side due to the smaller OD and lighter weight. Note, I have tried a ported SWR booster on a Trinity on a Glock and it was much quieter in my opinion. However, I find that depending on ammo, the booster will kick more crap back in your face. So I personally prefer to shoot NON-boostered cans and that combination would be a Trinity on a Beretta. |

Smallchange, You heard my Trident last weekend. I was shooting 115gr ammo and it was still very loud. I was very unhappy with it myself. Today, I got 500 rounds of 147gr CCI Blazer (aluminum case) and shot a few rounds in the backyard. I was quite impressed. There is a HUGE difference. With the subsonic ammo and the heavier buffer you let me borrow, I'm now happy with my Trident. I haven't heard the Trinity, but from what I've read, they are not much different as far as the actual noise level. I'm amazed at the sound difference between 115gr and the 147gr. It's night and day. I walked out my back door and shot once. I was happy with it. A squirrel jumped out of that little holly bush by my fountain and ran accross the yard. I shot a few more rounds as he ran and finally hit him on the run. Crazy Brian next door was in his driveway and heard it but he said it sounded more like I was hitting something hard with a hammer or something. He said it didn't sound like a gun since it didn't have the same report or the crack of a normal supersonic round. |
Glad you're finally happy with it. Of course I'll want that buffer back once I get my form 1 and TROS 5" 3-lug barrel. Maybe I can make a towel rack out of the old 16" barrel. |
Huh? You mean there are other places to buy ammo other than sportsmans guide? I have paid for my "buyer's club" membership over and over and over with the club prices. Every order, I even get a $10 gift certificate that basically pays shipping on my next order! SSSHHHHH, don't tell anyone, I wouldn't want them to sell out. |
Looks like they are already sold out. |
Try this I just ordered another 1000 and it said they have it in stock. |
Backordered till June 11. Thanks for your help, I will keep an eye out for it. |
Mike, I ordered 1000 rounds a couple of hours ago. I just tried to do it again (without completing the order) and it says it's in stock. It's stock # WX2-92607 $8.52 a box. I know that's high for 115 grain, but as hard as 147 grain is to find, I don't find that a bad deal. |
|
OMC lists Federal AE 147's at $9.99 per box of 50 if you buy the case. Looks like shipping on a case to TX is about $22, so $222 for 1,000 rounds. They list 870 boxes on hand... east.outdoormarksman.com/product_info.php?products_id=53084 That is $23 more than the SG link showing CCI Blazer, but at least you get brass cases... |
Thanks! That's what I like to see links with good prices on ammo! There should be a thread tacked that just has links with ammo prices. I don't reload (although it looks like I may have to with prices going up) but I am having really good luck with the aluminum casings. Smallchange, didn't you say you wanted some ammo links in this thread? I could have sworn I read that between the lines! I have my new buffer so I need to get yours back to you. |
Thanks, I got some this time. |
