Do most night vision monoculars use the same tube form factor? I have a tube with the following dimensions: Visible lens diameter (ocular side): .749" (~19 mm) Visible lens diameter (objective side): .719" (~18.3 mm) Diameter: 1.438" (~36.5 mm) Length: 1.222" (~31 mm) Sorry for the lack of pics; camera is down. The dimensions and pad placement seem very similar to the MX-10610 tube: ittnv.newcitymedia.com/products/files/20054141326360._mx10160_f9800_domestic.pdf The only difference is that this is potted in plastic and has two pads (one on either side of the notch at the objective end, each 30 degrees from the notch). It is supplied with 3v by the POS-NoName body I'm using now. I would like to upgrade to a PVS-14 / 6015 / Mum-14 housing (or anything else with a good weapon mount). Do you imagine that this tube would be compatible with those housings? Also, do you know a reliable source to buy just housings (lenses + body + electronics). I did read the building a PVS-14 thread. Thanks, fiz ETA: From free's pic pic80.picturetrail.com/VOL965/4056977/12946540/314243059.jpg, it looks like the contacts on the electronics unit are in the right place for this tube. I just wondered if anybody has experience using a plastic-potted tube like this. |

I have the parts available to build a PVS-14A, thats not a problem at all.... finding a good cheap tube is the issue here, your tube may fit a 14 housing, I have one you can try a drop in and see how it all lines up as long as it requires the same power supply and the physical dimensions are the same it may work BUT..... The focal length on the eyepiece and and the objective end must be compatible.... interesting questions |

10160 will drop in in leiu of 11769 in a PVS-14 housing. This is pretty much how they built the 6015 (non-adjustable gain model)....without the gain knob. If you drop 10160 in the PVS-14 housing, everything works but the gain knob. Should you upgrade the housing, I maybe interested in your housing. |
Yup, true, the only difference in the 6015 was the lack of the hole for variable gain, and the tube, I have turned some 6015 units into 14's with the knob, and tube swap, also have to add the correct circuit for the tube.... |
yup, but the battery housing components can also be modified, swapped, ect I have seen some of the 6015 units with a rubber plug siliconed in from the inside in place of the var gain knob, and have had the wires for the auto shutoff clipped |
