Decently clean, once fired cases, how long in the corn cob/polish?

10 minutes? 3 hours?  I did my BMG for about 2 hours and it looks really nice.  What's normal?

30 minutes to apparently, forever.  But, I tumble in walnut to clean and seldom more than an hour.  Delubing in corn cob takes no more than 15 minutes.

One of these weeks I'm going to run some brass for several days just to find out how good it can get.  I'll use some cases that are already clean and ready to use but don't have that like new gleam and I know will be resistant to further polishing.

I don't have much "decently" clean stuff, but most hits the walnut for an hour, then corncob for 1-2hrs.  I like it shiny though, and its not that big of a deal to me to let it go for a while.

I set my tumbler up on an automatic timer. The one you would use to turn the lights on and off automatically.
My first run is about one hour or two with a mix of walnut and corn.
Then after all case prep is done I will run them in corn only for about 30 min to 1 hour.

The beauty of the timer is, if I fall asleep watching the tube and get up at 3am, the tumbler is off. Even while I was drooling!

Man That is the best one yet-i am all for it.
I start tumble abound 900pm and will let it go for 2-3 hours.
Then fall asleep -then wife wakes me up around 2 am saying-What the hell is that I hear-FREAKS ME OUT THINKING ROBBER-Then realize it was my tumbler.
By then doesnt matter adrenelin pumping  I am up all night.
Happend twice-love your idea-

I also use the timer but I use it with walnut (lizard litter) and a bit of cheap liquid car polish; whatever WalMart has on sale.  Currently that means that turtle wax is in my media and after an hour, the cases are good and clean.  After case prep, I dump them back in for 10 minutes to clean off the lube and I'm good to go.

I tumble overnight, next morning very shinny.

Tumbling time is determined by how much bling you want.

Experiment and find what works for you.

+1

I do the same unless I am needing them sooner but generally they tumble overnight.

when i get a batch of virgin LC brass with them being annealed i ll put them in a mix of corn cob , coarse walnut, frankfort brass polish, 3 tumblers going at once. or for 5-6 hours until the sun reflect off them and burns my eye balls . regular cleaning 1/2-1hour

It seems that when I tumble mine it takes less time to get them clean when I fill the tumble with more brass than it does with less.  I use lizard bedding, the crushed walnut stuff with cheap liquid metal polish mixed in.  Every once in a while I toss a dryer sheet into the tumbler and run it for a couple hours to get all the grit and grime out.  The media lasts much loner and it keeps the dust at bay..

It kind of depends on how new your media is and how much additive you put in.  I always let them go at least 4-6 hours sometimes 8 hours.  Its no sweat off my ass the tumbler is doing the work.  Many times I have forgot about it and left it on for a day or so.

I usually don't tumble for less than 2-4 hours, and have often left them over night. I recently bought a timer from Home Depot. It has removable start and stop tabs, so I took them all out except one that will turn it off, and stay off.

Overnight.

The last run of the day goes overnight. During the day I try for a couple hours or until my patience has run out. Usually I'll pull a case or two out and see if I'm happy with them. If not they run longer. This is with Lizard Litter and NuFinish. Works really well.

After I had a tumbler catch fire, I don't let it run overnight.  If I want to tumble for more than a few hours, I will turn it off before I go to bed and turn it on the following day.

1 hour with plain ol' walnut.  maybe 1.5 hours if the media is getting old and a bit dirty.
