I've tried searching with no luck.
What is a good home made solution for cleaning brass and gun parts Thank you |
| Have read about viniger and other stuff but I decided to stay with the rcbs solution. I have the rcbs sonic cleaner. As long as I get my temp up to 140F, which the directions state, my brass comes out clean. 2 hrs in sonic and 2 hrs tumbling gets my brass nice and shiny. |

2hrs in sonic???? Holy poop... The cheap Lyman I returned had a very short max time. Useless.. I kept running and running. Then I got a wet tumbler..
The Lyman did start to remove the finish on a Armalite phosphate BCG so it was doing something. I tried multiple solutions including Vinegar and dawn and none were very successful in the lyman. Wasn't going to waste money on the expensive stuff. Ammonia will get it clean but it is also bad for the brass... Ruined a few small batches of brass before I found that out. Fired them all once and tossed out. Quoted:

FOR BRASS, I use hot water, a shot of dish soap, a shot of simple green, and a small bit of lemishine. 3 cycles (which comes out to 15 minutes) is the most I ever need to give my brass with that.
DO NOT USE THAT OR OTHER ACIDIC SOLUTIONS ON FINISHED STEEL. Well, unless you like unfinished steel. |
