A co-worker asked me to look at his new V53P. He had taken it to the range and could only get two to four rounds to fire before getting a jam and it would become extremely difficult to retract the bolt.
I stripped the gun to give it a good cleaning/degreasing, cleaned the chamber and attempted to reassemble it. I could not for the life of me get the bolt to rotate. I have had plenty of these type of weapons in the past and something just didn't seem right. I tried turning the locking piece with and without the firing pin in place and it would not rotate. The only thing visible that could interfere with its rotation was the buffer spring. I removed the buffer spring assembly and everything went back together no problem. I reinstalled the buffer spring assembly and again could not get the locking piece to turn. Has anyone else run into this? Can I run the gun without the buffer in the carrier if I add a buffered end cap? |
