Are the VEPR's piston, bolt, fcg, etc. interchangeable with those found in other AKs? Seems like this should be a simple question, but no one at 2 different AK boards seems to know, and Robarm didn't even know.

I don't know the piston, but the bolt, cover and mag (308) it not changeable with other AKs.

If I get motivated, I'll pull my VEPR II apart and compare and measure the aforememntion parts to my MAK-90 with US parts set.
