Anyone prefer a 53 over an AR15?

Over a 10.5 inch AR-15, yes, but only for the "cool" factor and that it can be made very small. Better irons too.

Once you try to replace an M4 or something with an HK53, you've exceeded what the 53 is meant to do (Very close work).

I have always loved the HK53. I have looked into having one built by several gunsmiths or buying a Vector.  The Vector seems to be alot cheaper.

If you are looking to purchase a SBR 223, the HK53 can't be beat.  I like my 16" barrel AR15 over the HK93 though.

The H&K roller lock design, is very smooth, especially in full-auto.

The British SBS (Special Boat Service = UK SEALS) use the HK53 as their standard weapon of choice…

He He, that was my first vid I watched with my new DSL connection.  God, Im glad to get rid of that damn dial up.

BTW:

If my goal was to get a SBR, I'd go straight for the HK53.  (and if my goal was to spend $15k, I'd go straight for a 223 trigger pack....and then get it reg'd in 9mm and 308)

As far as SBR's go, yes.

Tag. That Vector Arms 53 is looking awfully enticing.........

How reliable are these things?

Suposedly they are reliable as the sunset.

With the roller locking system and all.
