Has anyone posted any reviews on the RCBS Summit Press? I would like some feed back from owners/users of this press.
Thank You, Dane |

There's a bit more written up about the press on THR.org reloading forum. Fine press for most things....better more convenient, not as good, about the same as a Rockchucker. If that confuses read the thread linked above.
If you buy the press, buy and use some blue loctite on the ram-to-base screws and even the lock nuts on the adjustment screws that run in the back ram slot. You get it nice and tight with no play or flex, load for a hour then things loosen up and start flexing.....bad. Blue Loctite stops the problem. Leverage being high up, I find it harder to stroke when the going gets tuff.....the Rockchucker's leverage is below the bench where I can bear down and lean on it. Maybe if I was taller? With that said, I still plan on buying another.....if that's any indication....for use in my mountain cabin this summer. Light, strong, and small makes it handy......and nights in the mountains can get boring after a couple of days.
I'm a bit partial to the fact that it's my favorite color, its cast iron strong and it's made in America. My favorite feature is that if mounted at a slight angle you can get up close and personal to your work and not have the lever in your face. Won't be selling my Rockchucker though.....they play together very well. |
