I need an RKI to help me determine if a thread adapter I have is safe to use. What is the minimum size hole that should be used for an adapter or baffle from which a 9mm round will travel? I understand the typical 9mm diameter is 0.355... So what should the min size be, 0.359 or other?

| At some point you need to check your tolerance stack up, clearance hole size, thread on muzzle to bore straightness, and the can's thread straightness all effect one another. If you are .001/in out on the barrel and .001"/in out on the suppressor, you need at least .002/in of clearance. A 10in can needs .020 per side minimum to keep from having baffle strikes. If you get your parts made more accurately you can have less clearance, it's simple GD&T. |
