| I am purchasing my first can from a local class III. It is an AAC TiRant .45. It has been two months since I paid the dealer to order the can from AAC and he has not received the can or the serial number so we can proceed with the paperwork. I am starting to get concerned. I was aware that the process would be lengthy but I did not think the wait time to get the can from the manufacturer and the paperwork to the ATF would be this long. Is two months normal or should I be worried that something is not right? |

Did AAC tell the dealer that they had the can in stock, or did they have to manufacture it? Sometimes a manufacturer won't have any in stock, and they can't start the F3 to your dealer until after they do a production run.
Also, whether your dealer has the s/n or not isn't relevant - you can't start your F4 paperwork until he's receive the suppressor. |
| umm...FYI you're in for a wait. they may be sending TiRant out to dealers now, but i got in on the first or second batch of TiRants and waited 9 months for it! i think anything in-stock would be the "older" style one that you can't take down unless you "jailbreak" it. so just wait. AAC takes a LONG time to build cans. heck, everyone that ordered 762SDN-6's from SHOT show still didn't get them yet either. i know Major Malfunction and other companies have been taking pre-orders for them but those haven't been built yet either. they said end of March, early April. The only thing you can do is contact Mike Mers at AAC and ask him to check the status of suppressors headed to your dealer. Mike's a great guy. |

Times have changed, much of AAC production runs are bought up by distributors. If your dealer ordered it direct from AAC, it is possible he is several productions runs out before it gets made/shipped. |
| It's kind of interesting to see the ripple effect of Obama being elected... First it was the lower receivers and mags which brought a lot of people into the sport. Then it was various things like uppers, rails and barrels. Now, after people have been in the sport long enough they are learning about NFA items and those are the hot ticket items now. |

It's always a good idea to call Major Malfunction to check his inventory. |

AAC makes nice stuff but you will wait for it. When I got my M4-2000 they stopped supplying the mounts with the can and they only recommend their mounts be used. I tried getting a blackout mount from the factory and it took several weeks to finally get one when they said they had them in stock when I initially called. I almost had my can transferred to me faster than getting the mount. The long wait times and missed delivery dates is why several dealers will not order or try to deal with them. I thought the merger with Remington would speed things up but it sounds the same from several people.
Very nice stuff but slow service. |

My order for a m4-2000 6.8 has taken 5 months from order to form 3 just this week. Glad I got mine when I did. I had my dealer order that very model from AAC who had none it stock and it only took a month to arrive last December. The wait is worth it though. That can is a lot of fun to shoot! |

The wait is worth it though. That can is a lot of fun to shoot! +1 it is well worth the wait. everyone's lead times are horrible. i was first quoted 4-6 weeks by SilencerCo back in Sept., it actually took quite a bit longer than that. They're now quoting 10-12 weeks I believe. If it's not instock or can't be transferred in from another dealer, good luck! your best bet, would be to get one transferred in. by the time you get your can in, who knows what will be out or what improvements will be made to existing models. i'm still a bit upset about the new serviceable TiRants and the fact that AAC won't unlock the sealed units. |
| I sent a 762SD back to AAC for warranty work which warranted a replacement. From the day of hearing it was going to be replaced It took almost 4 months to get AAC in contact with their examiner at the ATF only to hear from him that he had never gotten the form 3 transfer....lost amongst the paper work they told me. Of course, once they finally made contact it was over and done in a day or two. I called AAC twice every week for a couple of months trying to get an update. I felt bad for mike, but I never got the feeling that anybody there had my customer needs as a priority and just kept blaming the ATF for the hold up and no contact. I would not hesitate to do business with them, but just keep tabs on things if they are drawing out longer than need be. |

It has been two months since I paid the dealer to order the can from AAC I was there around Christmas time. Now my nice new TiRant is sitting all pretty in the dealers safe. It's been 2 months since the paperwork was mailed off, hopefully the ATFE will send my stamp soon so I can shoot it! Hang in there, you will get it |
