It looked neat and different. Looks new. paid $215 shipped for it. Unsure if there is a recall on it. How bad did I just screw myself? |

It's not a Benelli Nova, but you got a decent deal for the money you paid. Use it & have fun. Bigger_Hammer

I bought one new when they came out years ago. The "plastic" or whatever it is was not applied evenly when forming the receiver. The receiver could be flexed with one hand when grasping around lower part of receiver. It seemed like a good idea at the time to have a shotgun that claimed to be able to withstand high humidity areas, but I think too much strength was lost in exchanging iron for plastic. I traded it off at the next gun show and was glad it was no longer my problem. Links for the recall are dead. Don't know if anyone would assume responsibility for the recall since the sell off. I bought one new in 2011ish. I like it, but it is cheap. It does look cool, and it's made in USA. I shot a perfect 25/25 with it in trap, so its perfectly capable. Along with plenty of birds and squirrels. The receiver is a skeletonized steel covered in the polymere. That alone makes me think its worth more than a nova, but admittedly the nova is nicer. I do like that it shares rem chokes with my 870, and that it has a 3 1/2 chamber. I don't intend on selling mine, and will keep using it. It is very nice not having to fret over the finish or keeping the exterior perfectly oiled. I did pay $300 for it new on sale in 2011 though, so i'm not sure you got a huge deal, but I'd imagine they don't get a ton cheaper. |

Yeah, I love all things Remington, but even I have managed to avoid buying An 887. Hopefully it works and either has the recall or was made after. |

I hope you have good luck with it OP but I lost faith in Remington years ago, the bean counters flat out ruined the brand. They did the same thing to Marlin but thankfully Ruger has things back on the right track. I was hopeful when the "new" Remington came back recently as the samples I handled looked really good but it sounds like that is going to flop also. As for the 887, I remember them being very front heavy and just clunky feeling. Nothing like an 870 or the Benelli Nova they were trying to compete with. |
| I had a couple, both scored for $150ish. I ended up hating the form factor and sold them to a friend that uses them for mentoring new hunters, he uses them for 3.5" waterfowl loads, and its a great tool for that use. I much prefer the 870 super mag for my 3.5" pump needs. |

About 2 years ago, I was invited to shoot sporting clays at an event that the place that I work sponsored. My boss had a Benelli Nova or Supernova, I don't know the difference, 20 gauge. My coworker had an 887. I had a Versamax. It was pretty clear that we all had just about the same damn gun.  The Versamax froze up on me, so I had to shoot the last few stations with the 887. Worked fine for me; apparently he's shot it for several years at this event and never had a problem. You know, sample of one and all that, but my experience was positive. |
