I've got a Rossi .357 lever I've had for a while.

Like to get something nicer around a 20" barrel.

Seeing Japanese Winchesters etc getting recommend.

Wanting to spend $1500 max, what would you guys go with?

I just picked up one of the new Ruger/Marlins in .357 magnum and it is pretty sweet:)

Henry Big Boy X FTW!

They're spendy, but the threaded barrel and tube loading combined with gate make it super easy to run suppressed if you end up going that route, which is an absolute hoot with subsonic .38 Spl.

With that being said do NOT visit Ranger Point Precision...you've been warned!

Thanks guys.

The new Ruger/Marlins look nice. Just having a hard time on making a decision on what to go with.

My 16" Rossi 92 I'd like to thread the barrel and put a red dot on it, but probably more cost effective to just buy something capable.

Want a 20" or so to keep traditional though. Wood etc.

Maybe one of the Ruger/Marlins if I can't find an 1873 in stock.

I love my Miroku Winchester 1873 but I really wish I could find an 1892.

I've only taken the .357 of the two Marlins in this picture out shooting once, but it worked great. So did the .357 Miroku/Winchester '73 repro, and yes, it is smooth. Back when I was active in cowboy shooting, I eventually got two .357 Miroku '92 repros; one a Browning B92 carbine and a 24" Winchester. Took some breaking in, especially on the Winchester-marked one, but they are very nice guns.

So, I am going to repeat the same useless advice I always give: get out there and get all hands on with as many different options as you can and see if anything grabs hold of you.

The new Marlins are really good guns. I own a new 336, a remlin 1894 (357) and a Japanese Winchester model 92 short rifle flavored in 45LC. The Winchester has all the silly lawyer safeties on in. I had Turnbull delete them for me.

IME, the new Marlins are at the top.

Here's the Winchester with Turnbull bling

I have an early 90's 1894 Marlin with a sweet aftermarket trigger.  But the Marlin is difficult to tacticool.

Question Is there a tactical. 357 with good aftermarket support like triggers?

I'd rate them in this order 1. Winchester, 2. Ruger/Marlin, 3. Henry

The new Ruger made Marlins are super nice.  I've owned one of the new 1895 SBLs.  The Winchesters are just a step above in quality and fit and finish, though.  The Miroku made Winchesters are the nicest factory lever guns you can buy.  They're pricey, but they're worth it for the quality you get.

If you don't need a threaded barrel marlin is always the best answer.
