the most common to fail on the M1?

I always wonder about the extractors and all on weapons but is there a specific one on the Garand that

is more commonly failing?

Thanks!

In all my years of shooting I have never had a Garand part break. If you are asking what extra parts to keep on hand I would get bolt internals and a spring kit

That was the answer I was looking for.

I hadn't heard of a part breaking (not that they won't).

Parts do break, wear out but usually becuasse they were about worn out anyway
If everything is in good condition they will last your lieftime
I have heard of guys breaking firing pins but its never happened to me
The first thing I do on any Garand I buy is replace the springs

I've had an oprod spring break,
I have 4 Garands and keep a few oprod springs and 2 complete bolt rebuild parts in the bin just in case.

Excellent recommendations.

Thanks for the input!

The only part I have had to replace on my M1 was the clip latch. On my M14 I had to replace the windage knob. Other than those two parts I have had to replace a bunch of ammo on both rifles.

yep, I have a bunch of garands and had one firing pin tail break off.

A small parts kit? - I'd go with ejector and extractor springs/pins, firing pin and an extractor.  Really a whole spring kit is relatively cheap.
