I'm faced with having to sell one of my guns. I'm wanting to keep the one that might possibly hold or go up in value later on. I have a Colt LE6940 that I paid $1400 for a year or so ago it's just a LE not a LEO model. The other gun that is possibly on the chopping bolck is a Scar 17s is FDE that I paid $2500 for last october. Both guns are NIB and have never been fired they are both safe queens. Which one of these guns would you keep? I have been shooting more hand guns lately then anything else and haven't shot either one of these guns. Thanks for any advice.

I've been through a couple very serious financial problems in recent years. I managed to get through without having to sell any of my guns. I hope you can as well.

If it were me, the SCAR would be the keeper without a doubt.

Those are both very nice rifles, man..I don't know. I'd have a hard time selling either one myself.

ETA: that said..I feel like the Colt would be more replaceable.

Ya, the Colt.

As soon as it's clear the Obama WH isn't allowing ANY imports, the FN, especially being the 17 and not 16, will probably hold/increase value the best. I believe they are imported and not made in a US plant? Not sure on that.

I was leaning towards the colt also. The problem is I haven't seen a 6940 for sale locally in almost a year. Some scar 17s are starting to show back up but for $3100.

I really don't want to sell either. I know I might take a slight loss on the colt. If I sold the scar I don't think I would have a problem selling it for $2500. But I'm leaning towards the colt. I just wish I could see a few for sale locally before I sell this one.

Keep the SCAR you can always buy another colt or build another AR down the road.

I'd definitely ditch the Colt.  If you can get by with selling the Colt, it could be a cheaper rifle to replace when your situation improves. Also, it's an AR.  There's how many AR manufacturers out there, and how many SCAR manufacturers?  Even if you can't get back into a Colt, my DPMS shoots just fine...

ETA - that SCAR will be worth 2-3x what you paid if some other crazy firearms-related incident goes down.

You can make money right now on the Scar--sell that and keep the Colt.  Colt also has potential to increase in value.  Colt will be less expensive to shoot and easier to replace parts if bans occur.  Do not sell either if you can't make money on them.

As much as i love my three Colt ARs I would have to let the Colt go before I let that SCAR go.  Like others have said, if some sorta BS ban came along I would much rather have the SCAR than the Colt.

You can replace the Colt later for about $1,100.00 at most walmarts.

That said I would sell the SCAR.

I know; it makes more sense to hang on to the SCAR but I'd rather have the Colt!
